Set up your categories

Pick whichever of these fit your own spending — you can rename, add, or remove any of them later.

Fledge

Your browser is blocking saved data (private/incognito mode?) — entries won't persist after you close this tab.

Welcome to Fledge

Three steps and your real numbers are ready. Nothing to prepare.

  1. Import a bank statement. Download it from your banking app or online banking and upload it here.
  2. Sort your biggest payees. Once each. Fledge remembers them, so next month sorts itself.
  3. Set a monthly budget if you'd like one. It's optional.

Review uncategorized payees

Grouped by payee, not by transaction — categorize a payee once and every past and future transaction from them is sorted too. Staying uncategorized is fine; nothing here is applied until you choose it.

Sends only your payee names and category names (no amounts, dates or account details) to Anthropic in the USA, to suggest a category for each. Nothing changes until you review and apply. It never gives financial advice.

Connect a bank account

No bank connected. Every entry above was typed in by hand.

This prototype can't safely connect to a real bank — that takes a server that holds API credentials nobody in a browser tab should ever see. Here's what the real version needs.

  1. Pick a provider that covers your bank's country — Investec has its own API if that's your bank, Stitch covers most other South African banks, Plaid covers the US and Canada, TrueLayer or Tink cover the UK and EU.
  2. Investec's is self-serve with no waiting; Stitch and most others require sandbox testing first, then a real request for production access.
  3. Build a small backend to hold the API keys — they can never live in a page like this one. Claude Code is a reasonable place to build that piece.
  4. For anything not covered by an API yet, CSV import (above) works today for any bank, no approval needed.
Your categories, budgets, and transactions are synced to your account.

Talk to a licensed adviser

Every adviser here is checked by hand against the FSCA register. Fledge doesn't give financial advice. It helps you find someone licensed who can, with your numbers already put together.
